Vision Statement
Little Foot Daycare has given many children, from infant, special needs and preschoolers, a safe, homey, and nurturing environment in which to grow and thrive. We aim to produce self-motivated, problem-solvers and long-term learners in the environment and respect for oneself and others. By adding self-guiding outdoor play and animals to our curriculum, we stive to help our children become competent, hardworking students. Our solid philosophy, combining the teaching of love, respect, trust, and honesty, as well as the benefits of nature in the form of gardening and animal husbandry, has nurtured many children in our daily care.
Educating the children by experience through farm-to-fork methods and focusing on how caring for animals can help children develop compassion, responsibility and nurturing instincts has opened opportunities to broaden their thinking and knowledge of the natural world and their role in it, as well as their influence on their environment. These teachings give children a sense of environmental stewardship.
Mission Statement
We offer educational experience and communication skills and exposure to hands on activities and real-world outdoor experiences. Learning is achieving in a respectful and supportive environment that enhances integrity, respect, responsibility, and compassion for others.
We provide nutritious meals through the Food Program, which on average supplies 1,243 meals a month, served on an average of 20 days per month. Children experience a rotating, LED lighted hydroponic gardening system inside the house. The children can pick and wash herbs and vegetables from this garden to enhance our meals. They receive firsthand experience and understanding of the life cycle of both plants and animals and benefit from our collective efforts, giving each child a role in the community we are building. During spring, our children help collect fertile duck eggs from the enclosure, which are then placed in an incubator for hatching, thus experiencing the progression of the life cycle. We successfully hatch 20-40 ducklings a year and continue to care for them, establishing a sustainable environment.
